‘A vision of students today’

Block 2, Weeks 13 & 14, Activity 1a: Michael Wesch video

This really has to be viewed but here are my answers to the questions:

Is the message being presented in this visual way any different from the primarily text-based presentation of findings used so far this week?

For me the message suggests the old style of teaching is redundant, superseded by technology but that the students don’t necessarily don’t necessarily perceive the usefulness of it even thought it is essentially ‘taking over’ their education. In that regard, the message is the same.

How important is the medium and the technologies themselves in terms of conveying messages about this research area?

The message in this format has far greater impact, but, for me, it is simply a launching board for looking at the research to determine where the truth lies.

What are the implications for your own practice?

Technology is not used in the same way for W201 but I think the important point is the fact that, ultimately, it is the learner who will determine the effectiveness of technology in their education.
